This scholarship is being given in the memory of John A. Maderer. He passed away at age 70 on Thanksgiving day in 2004 from Asbestos related lung cancer.
He was a graduate of West Seneca Central, worked as a steamfitter in WNY for over 40 years, was a former union president and assistant business agent until he retired in 1994.
He spent 8 years volunteering as a football coach for the West Seneca Lions Little Loop Football in the 70's.
His four children all live and work in the Alden, Batavia, Orchard Park and West Seneca communities. Which is why the scholarships are available to students in those districts.
